    Laurent Rejto is the Executive Director of the Hudson Valley Film Commission. The Hudson Valley Film Commission refers local crew, cast, locations, vendors, post production facilities, and more to film makers shooting locally! Since 2000, the Hudson Valley Film Commission has supported and worked on more than 500 productions creating thousands of jobs and more than $200-million in regional economic development especially in Ulster, Dutchess and Orange counties. 

    Suzanne Holt is the Director of the Ulster County Office of Economic Development and the Ulster County Film Office, which is tasked with helping Ulster County’s businesses to provide needed goods and services to the films being shot in the Hudson Valley.

    County Executive Mike Hein invites Ulster County employers to a valuable HR workshop. Presenters will share current labor market information and offer useful tools and expert advice on topics such as company branding, writing and advertising effective job descriptions, and using social media effectively to attract qualified candidates.  Specific strategies for human resource professionals, business owners and hiring managers to successfully engage with 20-35 year old job seekers will also be provided.

    County Executive Mike Hein and the Ulster County Office of Economic Development invite residents of the Shandaken area to learn more about the services we offer to support local businesses, nonprofits, and communities. Topics of discussion include:

    • Funding assistance through grants and loans;
    • Site assistance through site research and planning;
    • Business counseling, training and networking; and
    • Tax incentives, such as Payments-In-Lieu-Of-Taxes (PILOTs), tax credits, and tax abatements.

    Come learn and discuss how county and local efforts to boost business can be an important part of helping our local economy grow and thrive!

    This event is co-hosted by the Towns of Shandaken, Denning, and Hardenburgh; the Catskill Watershed Corporation and the Central Catskill Chamber of Commerce. The event is part of the Office of Economic Development's ongoing Community Economic Development initiative, which aims to engage with residents and business owners to help shape locally-driven economic development priorities.     Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, the Ulster County Climate Smart Committee, and the Ulster County Office of Economic Development invite you to attend the launch of the Green Business Challenge (GBC). The event will highlight local green business leaders such as Bread Alone and will take place at Best Western, 503 Washington Ave., Kingston. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m., and presentations will begin at 8:00 a.m. Attendees will have a chance to speak with vendors, presenters and GBC Ambassadors.

    Cost: $20 (includes breakfast)

    The Ulster County Green Business Challenge is designed to encourage businesses, organizations and municipalities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate climate change and reap considerable savings. This program also supports local green building contractors, renewable energy providers and other businesses that implement sustainability practices. The event includes a roundtable with producers, a panel discussion and a networking reception co-hosted by Stockade Works, the Producers Guild of America, the Hudson River Maritime Museum and the Ulster County Film Office.

    Local film/TV professionals are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to collaborate and discuss ways to increase the number of film/TV productions made locally.
